Before departure

The Ionian islands are the Greece families come back to. Calm sea — the protected Ionian channel has none of the open-Aegean swell — short cruises (no island is more than thirty miles from the next), and a coastline of green pine forest tumbling into water the colour of a swimming pool.

Add to that the fact that the Ionian's most extraordinary beaches — Voutoumi, Porto Katsiki, Myrtos — are accessible only from the sea, and the case writes itself.

This is the itinerary for the second-time charter guest. The one with three children, a teenage daughter who has no interest in Mykonos, and a partner who wants the family to sleep well at anchor and not be moved every dawn. The Ionian delivers exactly that.

The route ties together six islands and one short mainland stop, with the rhythms calibrated for shared time on deck rather than spectacle.
